Welcome to the Katverse

Where villains reign supreme.

Or at least…they think they do.

Introduction

Who am I?

I like to say that I write “Horror Romance” or “Villain Romance” usually set in dark fantasy worlds. My guys are always a bit over-the-top, a bit fantastical, and always the antagonist of their stories.

I’m known for sprawling worldbuilding, snarky dialogue, and captivating characters that get in your head and live there rent free.

What is Horror Romance?

Picture your favorite scary story, only the monster who is chasing you down the hallway doesn’t want to kill you. Or if they do, it’s because they want to keep you.

How is this different from Dark Romance? Dark Romance often involves realism and can involve issues that are present in the real world. In my head, it’s the difference between True Crime (Dark) and Hellraiser (Horror.)

What is Dark Fantasy?

Fantasy that has an element of horror, darkness, or dread. So a world where people eat other people for fun. Or a “man-eating murder circus.” Eldritch horrors, terrible monsters, unholy magic…you name it.

The Katverse

Most of my stories are connected to the others using Easter Eggs and other “hey, it’s that guy!” tactics. You can read them in any order. What connects all my stories with only a few exceptions are The Ancients, or Eldritch Beings from the Space Between Worlds that appear in all of my books in one form or another.

They get different names depending on where they are. Together, the Ancients are of one mind and one being. But when separated, they have unique personalities. (Think the borg.)

The Ancients appeared in my first series, The Masks of Under, and have been around in one form or another ever since.

What about the ones that don’t connect? They’re usually in-world fiction. The Cardinal Winds appears in Harrow Faire as a romance novel series, and so-on.
